TWK Agri was initially established by timber farmers. The aim was to assist in the marketing of their timber products, mainly Wattle bark and timber. This has subsequently expanded to also include other species of timber, mainly Eucalyptus and Pine logs as well as a variety of other timber products, not only for TWK’s farmers but for the South African timber industry as a whole.
TWK WOODCHIP MILL
TWK owns and operates a world-class woodchip production and export facility in Richards Bay, South Africa, with the capability of producing and exporting 900 000 tons of woodchips per annum.
We have been successfully producing and exporting high-quality woodchips for more than 30 years. Our customer base includes some of the largest pulp and paper producers in Japan, China and India.
We produce two woodchip products ideally suited to the production of pulp and paper products:

TWK RESEARCH
TWK is actively involved in different aspects of research to create sustainable forestry not only for ourselves but also for the different suppliers of wood fibre and products.
This is achieved through:

Investing in genetically improved material and research in silviculture, harvesting and risk mitigation. With the help of the FABI, where it is represented, TWK is actively involved in research by monitoring forestry diseases and pests. TWK supports research into forestry, undertaken by the ICFR. TWK is also represented on the board of the ICFR.

We continually cultivate and develop new and existing markets and/or niche markets for the suppliers of our processed and unprocessed timber products.
Our experts give advice and/or manage harvesting operations, as well as manage a complete range of forest activities.
PLANTATION MANAGEMENT
TWK Agri manages plantations on behalf of property owners nationally and in Africa. It strictly follows successful and sustainable forestry practices to ensure sustainability and responsibility for future generations.
TWK Agri mentors previously disadvantaged timber growers who are beneficiaries of land reform and land redistribution in South Africa.
TWK Agri is a founding member and current member of the Mkondo Fire Protection Association (MFPA) and a founding member and current member of the Mpumalanga Forestry Wildfire Committee (MFWC)
LIVESTOCK
TWK Agri promotes the agro forestry principle, which leads to an improved income on forestry land. Beef and goat farming on forestry land is one of the farming activities introduced on plantations.

Dunnage has a variety of uses – specifically with shipping and trucking, containers and the steel industry. It is mainly used as hull protection, to lift cargo off the floor and to prevent water from coming into contact with the cargo. Dunnage is also used as a spacer to separate layers of steel/products for easy storing, loading or unloading, and for transporting.
Some of the loyal customers of 10 years or more are Bidfreight Port Operations, Pro Roof, SA Steel Mill and Uni-Span to name a few. TWK Logistics
The TWK Logistics team identified the need to formulate a comprehensive logistics strategy that was aligned to the group’s overall business strategy and encompassed all movements – from the forest/fields to the final destination. This strategy included a multitude of options such as rail, owned fleet, outsourced fleet and a dedicated contracted fleet.
Putting a TMS platform in the TWK ecosystem gives TWK leadership and shareholders peace of mind that the lowest cost plan is deployed every day based on the resources available to TWK. In the meantime, the TWK Logistics team has access to much more information and data than they would ever have had before.

TWK Charcoal
TWK producers charcoal and is actively involved in its commercial trading of charcoal suppliers in the South African and Eswatini markets. The charcoal is of premium grade and in high demand by barbecue markets in South Africa. Charcoal from FSC is also FSC® certified.
The charcoal mainly produced in South Africa is supplied to Ferro Silicone plant’s situated in Mpumalanga and Limpopo province. Our braai charcoal range can be found at various outlets and is only a pleasure to braai with.
Our charcoal is of premium grade and in high demand by barbecue markets in South Africa and Eswatini. Charcoal from SFC is FSC® certified.
STTP
Sawco Treated Timber Products was Established in 2014 by a Joint Venture to add value to the raw material resource in Gege/Nhlangano area of Sheselweni Forestry company and service the local and foreign markets with excellent Utility and Building and Fencing poles.
Our quality is closely monitored by ACT, as we strive to maintain SANS 754,457,1288 standards. Our plant has a capacity of 1800 cube per month combined.

Timber is locally sourced from our partner company. Timber is received dry and stored in the stackyard. When it complies with a moisture of 30% is then cut to customer requirement and bundled. After undergoing quality check, the timber is then sent to treating.
The timber is treated with creosote, which is blended from the products derived from the distillation of crude coal tar. After treating it is again check to ensure the final product received by the customer complies to the SANS 754.457,1288 standards.
We strive to keep our workplace clean and protect the environment. Thus we have stored the creosote in closed containers, inside a contained area. Our floor plan has been set up so that all creosote dripping from our final product is collect in our waste dams throw a filtration system.
